|Since 1992 Zimbabwe has been a Full Member of the International Cricket Council (ICC). They are currently ranking at 10th position on the list of ICC tests with 315 points. With 588 points in the ODIs they are placed at 13th and with 588 points of T20 they stands at 11th position. Zimbabwe cricket players salaries compare to other teams is very low.
Zimbabwe was banned from international competitions by the International Cricket Council because of government interference in the running of the national board. However, the ban stopped Zimbabwe from playing in the qualifying competition for this year’s World Twenty20 in Australia, robbing the players of the chance to go to the 20-over World Cup.The ICC also stopped its funding to Zimbabwe during the suspension.
The retainer structure is:
- Match Fee: Every individual player who plays an international match for the country is provided with the match fee.
- Team Performance Bonuses: Performance Rewards are also given by the ZC to the individual players depending on their performance.
- Retainer Fee: Retain Fee is guaranteed yearly retainer which will be paid to all cricketers in the central contract based on their contract type.
- Individual Performance Bonuses: Performance-related bonuses are also rewarded.
According to the local newspaper The Standard, top cricketers are in Grade X, and receive US$5,000 a month, those in Grade A US$3,500, Grade B Us$2,000 and Grade C US$1,500. At the bottom is the Rookie Grade, on which cricketers are paid a retainer fee of US$300. But according to leaked report $100,000 paid maximum including captain bonus to a player and $40,000 a year minimum base salary for players who get contracts. There are no details revealed how much prize money share for players. Only players involved in the series win received a prize money bonus.
