What is Vidgo?

Vidgo is a live streaming cable replacement. It’s a streaming service that allows you to connect to an app on an Internet-connected device that gives you the chance to watch TV without cable. If you’ve been looking for a way to watch your favorite channels without being stuck in a cable contract, this could be the service for you. Vidgo offers a host of different channels sure to please sports fans and general entertainment fans, alike.

Vidgo works on a variety of devices including computers, Roku, Chromecast, and mobile devices. You just use your device to connect to the app and from there you watch TV like you would on any other streaming service or cable. Added features beyond live TV include access to TV Everywhere apps, a live guide to find what you want to watch, and the ability to stream on 3 devices at the same time.

Sports fans may find Vidgo to be a mixed bag. Plenty of nationwide channels are available here, but local channels are less available. You will have access to multiple ESPN networks, FS1, FS2, Stadium, MLB Network, and NFL Network. However, local networks are not as readily available. You may have access to ABC or FOX either on Vidgo or through TV Everywhere apps, but other local channels are not available at this time.

Vidgo has two main plans and a Spanish plan. You can pick up any of these plans at a discount if you purchase them for 3 months in one shot. For example, the basic Plus Package is $60 per month, but if you pick up the first 3 months in one go, you’ll pay just $53 a month up front (and save $20 in the process!). Like all other streaming packages, you aren’t stuck in a contract, and you can cancel anytime you wish.

Unlike other streaming services, Vidgo doesn’t offer any add-on channels or packages. You just pick one of the main package offerings and that’s it! As you can see there’s a wide range of content that should appease sports fans, news enthusiasts, and general TV fans. All you have to do is pick the package that’s right for you and sign up!

What Channels are Missing from Vidgo?

Every streaming service seems to be missing a few key channels and Vidgo is not different. Depending on your viewing interest you might find many networks missing from your perfect lineup. When it comes to local channels you’ll be limited to ABC and FOX. CBS and NBC are not available. As for major broadcasting networks, you’ll be without AMC, BBC America, Cartoon Network, TNT, TBS, USA, and several others. Regional sports networks are also missing for the most part.

What Does Vidgo Offer for Sports Fans?

Vidgo offers plenty of sports channels that cover most major sports. In fact, you really shouldn’t have a problem catching national games from all around the country with a Vidgo subscription. However, if your local games aren’t airing on ABC or FOX, you won’t be able to watch them with Vidgo as it doesn’t carry most regional sports networks. That said, you will have access to MLB Network, NFL Network, and other major sports networks.

NFL and NCAA fans will have plenty to watch on FOX, ESPN, NFL Network, BTN, ACCN, and SECN. Pac-12 regional networks are included, as well as Longhorn Network. This makes Vidgo a solid option to watch NFL games online and college football.

If you’re interested in baseball, Vidgo offers good coverage for national games. For starters, you’ll have access to national games on ESPN and MLB Network. However, if you’re wanting to follow your local team all throughout the season, Vidgo isn’t a great choice as it doesn’t carry regional sports networks.

If you love basketball, you may have the access you need with channels like ABC and ESPN. Unfortunately, TNT is not included. You also are missing regional sports networks and NBA TV, which are not included. So, basketball fans will have some access to games, but not as much as they might like.

Hockey fans can watch games on ESPN and ABC. Again, TNT and regional options that air hockey like Bally Sports Network are out. That said, the Premium package does include access to NHL Network.

As a sports streaming service, Vidgo has a lot to offer, depending on what it is you’re looking to watch. There is a good mix of content, but if you’re hoping to watch every single game of a sport, that might not be possible with Vidgo.

What Devices are Compatible with Vidgo?

vidgo devices

For any streaming service to work, you need a stable Internet connection and a streaming device. Devices vary, but you’re using one right now to read this! That’s right you can even watch TV live or on-demand from your phone, your computer, and a host of other devices, which are listed below:

  • Computers – Just point your browser (PC or Mac) to Vidgo.com to watch
  • Mobile devices – Apple and Android phones and tablets
  • Streaming Devices – Watch on Roku, Fire TV, and Apple TV

What Features are Included with Vidgo Packages?

Vidgo may seem a little lighter on features than other services. This is because a few features that have become standards in streaming won’t be found on Vidgo. For example, they do not offer any sort of cloud-DVR service or any add-on features. Vidgo does have a few features though including:

On-Demand Viewing

Vidgo offers an extensive on-demand library filled with previously aired content. In many ways, this is similar to things you would record on a cloud-DVR, only you don’t have to because it’s already waiting for you! The on-demand content can be found by browsing the various categories or searching the specific title that you’re looking to watch.

Watch Multiple Screens at Once

Currently, Vidgo allows you to watch on 3 screens at the same time. It doesn’t matter if you’re at home or anywhere else. Just login to your account and up to 3 family members can be watching at the same time.

Try Out Timeshift

Have you ever come home to watch your favorite show or live sporting event and you ended up being late? That’s not a problem with Vidgo. That’s because you’ll have the ability to rewind, pause, or even start a program from the beginning!

Watch with Friends!

You might only get 3 screens, but you can share them with friends in your very own watch party. So, if you can’t find time to get together but you want to watch your favorite show, you can do that with Vidgo. The only catch is that all viewers need to be Vidgo customers, as well.

TV Everywhere App Usage

TV Everywhere apps are network apps that let you watch live and on-demand TV after you sign in with a cable or streaming provider. Basically, the network knows you’re a paying customer and they allow you to watch what you want on their app in addition to your other way of watching. Vidgo does offer some TV Everywhere access. Subscribers will have access to the following TV Everywhere apps as long as the channels are included in their package. Available TV Everywhere apps include:

  • A&E
  • ABC
  • ABC News
  • AHC
  • Animal Planet
  • beIN Sports
  • BTN
  • BET
  • Comedy Central
  • Cooking Channel
  • Destination America
  • Discovery
  • Disney Channel
  • ESPN
  • Food Network
  • FOX News
  • FOX Business
  • Freeform
  • FX
  • Hallmark
  • History en Espanol
  • Lifetime
  • National Geographic
  • NFL Network
  • Nickelodeon
  • OWN
  • Paramount Network
  • SCI
  • SECN
  • TLC
  • Travel
  • VH1

  • Visit the Vidgo website
  • Click the “Get Started” button
  • Choose the package that suits you the best and click “Sign Up Now”
  • Fill out your information, agree to the terms, and hit submit
  • Start watching TV!

Using Vidgo

You can choose live content by checking the guide and turning on the channel you want. As for on-demand programming you can either search for something you know you want to watch, or you can browse for something to watch in a variety of categories. In addition to the live content offered, you’ll also have thousands of on-demand TV shows and movies to choose from. Everything is straightforward and easy to navigate.

How Much Does Vidgo Cost?

Vidgo offers three main streaming plans. There are two English-speaking plans and one for Spanish speakers. You just make your choice from one of the three and you’re ready to go. Unlike other services, Vidgo does not offer the chance to add on any additional content or premium movie channels. You just make your choice from the three available options and that’s all you have to do.

Vidgo pricing for its plans is as follows:

  • English Plus Package (110+ live and on-demand channels $53/for 3 months, $60 after)
  • English Premium Package (150+ live/on-demand channels $66.33/for 3 months, $80 after)
  • Spanish Mas Package (50+ live/on-demand channels, $25/for 3 months, $30 after)

All packages include both live and on-demand content with some access to TV Everywhere apps. Each package has the option for a 3-month discount for new subscribers, but you must pay for the 3-months at one time. You can cancel Vidgo anytime you wish. You will never be asked to sign a contract to enjoy this service.

How Does Vidgo Pricing Compare to Other Services Pricing?

Vidgo is priced pretty similarly to many of the larger streaming services. Many packages are now commonly $60-$70 per month to start, and Vidgo is right in line with this price point. If you’re curious about other services and what they offer, here are other starting costs for other popular streaming services:

Vidgo Pros & Cons

If you want to just get down to the basics and know the good and bad aspects to signing up for Vidgo this is the section for you. Here are the most basic pros and cons of Vidgo subscribing.

Pro: Vidgo Offers Two Packages to Choose from

Vidgo offers the option of choosing which package is right for you. You can pick the package that suits your budget best or that has the right channels to suit your needs. Both packages offer a diverse channel lineup filled with news, sports, entertainment, and more.

Pro: Watch Parties Are Fun

Vidgo allows you to invite your friends to virtual watch parties of your favorite shows, sporting events, and movies. So, if you wanted to watch something together you can do that no matter where you both are. The one downside to this is that both parties have to be Vidgo subscribers.

Pro: Timeshift Allows you to Pause and Restart Live TV

Timeshift is such a cool addition to Vidgo. If you come home to watch the game and you’re late, you don’t have to worry about what you missed because you can restart the game! Need a few minutes to run to get snacks or stop in the bathroom, just pause the game and restart it when you’re ready. It’s definitely one of the best features that Vidgo has to offer.

Con: Limited Local Content is Available

With Vidgo you do have access to ABC and FOX. However, CBS and NBC are not available. For sports fans, this means some sports will be available to you locally and others may not.

Con: No Cloud-DVR

Cloud-DVRs are pretty standard when it comes to features for streaming services, but Vidgo doesn’t offer one. In fact, they are the only live streaming service currently that doesn’t. This isn’t necessarily a dealbreaker, but not having a way to record a show you can’t watch live is disappointing.

Con: No Add-on Channels or Features

Vidgo feels a little bare when it comes to features. There is no cloud-DVR and no ability to add one. You also can’t add to the number of simultaneous streams you run. You’re also limited to the channels in your package. There is no way to add premium movie channels or any other content to your package.
