Manager: Oscar Tabarez.

Fernando Muslera the experienced goal stopper is going to feature in his 4th world cup. He is definitely the number one choice for the spot for Tabarez. Thus the Galatasary is going to guard the goal posts once again in the Qatar WC. The two alternatives for him will be Al Batin’s Martin Campana and Nacional goalie Sergio Rochet.

Uruguay has got quality defenders and their defense is a mixture of youth and experience. As Tabarez tends to change formation regularly based on respective match opponents, there might be 2 CBs against comparatively weaker opponents and 3 CBs against the stronger sides. Cagliari’s Diego Godin is an auto choice and he is expected to make a partnership with Jose Gimenez. FC Barcelona star Ronald Araujo should also get his chances on regular occasion. Meanwhile, Martin Caceres and Sebastian Coates should be the substitution options. Nahitan Nandez is the first choice right back for the country while AS Roma’s full back Matias Vina will be the first choice option at the left side of the defense.

We expect Tabarez to field 3 or 4 midfielders in the starting XI based on his formation. Federico Valverde is perhaps the most crucial man in the middle while Inter Milan’s Matias Vecino should continue to be the first choice defensive midfielder. The 3rd option in the mid might be Juventus man Rodrigo Bentancur. Flamengo’s Giorgian De Arrascaeta is expected to play at the attacking midfielder position. River Plate man Nicolas De La Cruz and MLS star Brian Rodriguez will also be the handy options for the Uruguay boss.

In the attack, Luis Suarez would be the main weapon. The experienced forward will be the most vital player in the squad. The former Barca striker has been in red hot form at his current club Atletico de Madrid. The Uruguayan fans would love to see him carry his form to the FIFA World Cup. Manchester United forward Edinson Cavani is another crucial player up front. He should be the partner of Suarez in the front line. Darwin Nunez, the 22 years old SL Benfica young forward is expected to come off the bench on regular occasions.
