Goalkeeping spot gave Scaloni and the Argentine fans some serious headaches since the 2018 FIFA WC. No one could either perform or settle their places in the XI. Willy Caballero’s incident against Croatia and Armani’s below average performances made Argentina suffer a lot. But Emi Martinez came as the savior as soon as he was given a chance. The Aston Villa man is currently one of the top GKs in the planet and if any accident doesn’t happen, he will surely be the man to stand between the goal posts. Atalanta gloveman Juan Musso is expected to be the 2nd choice goalie. While the 3rd spot will be occupied either by Franco Armani or G Rulli.

People always used to say, ‘Argentina is full of quality forwards but they lack solid defenders”. However, Scaloni has also successfully managed this problem. The Argentine defense has been rock solid throughout the Copa America and they also proved themselves good enough throughout the FIFA WC qualifiers. Nicolas Otamendi has become a true leader and he is almost an auto choice at the heart of the defense. His possible partner will be either Christian Romero or German Pezzella. The later mentioned duo are expected to be rotated during the competition. Marcos Acuna has developed himself so much and is now the top choice left back over Tagliafico. While, on the right side of the defense either Nahuel Molina or Gonzalo Montiel will start.

With a possible 4-2-3-1 or 4-3-3 formation there will either be 2 or 3 proper midfielders. Leandro Paredes and Rodrigo de Paul are the likely starters while Giovani Lo Celso is also a favorite option for the Albiceleste head coach. Guido Rodriguez is a very good replacement option for the side. Angel Di Maria and Alejandro Gomez are the two gems with galore of experience and they play as each other’s replacement.

Argentina is never short of forwards and they do have one of the deadliest front line in the world. Team captain Lionel Messi will lead the attack while at the very front the possible starter is Inter Milan sensation Lautaro Martinez. However, there will be a good fight for the spot and Joaquin Correa is another top choice for Scaloni. If the Argentine boss tends to go with a more attacking set up then Nicolas Gonzalez or Paulo Dybala might be picked as the starter. Former Man City talisman and current Barca player Sergio Aguero may get a place in the squad due to his vast experience.
