Manager: Gerardo Martino.
Guilermo Ochoa, the legendary goalkeeper who will be more than 37 during the World Cup, once again will be the first choice gloveman for Mexico. He was the first pick during the previous 2 editions of the WC and it will be the 3rd time (edition), he is gonna guard the Mexican goal line at the biggest stage of world football. With more than a hundred appearances, he has no shortage of experience and will be a key man for the team. His alternatives will be Alfredo Talavera and Rodlofo Cota. All 3 of them currently play in the Liga MX
In the defense, Hector Moreno is the most experienced campaigner who also has above hundred appearances beside his name. The CF Monterrey center half will be a regular starter and his partner at the heart of the back line would be Celta Vigo’s Nestor Araujo. Jesus Gallardo is definitely the first choice left back and meanwhile Luis Rodriguez will be the starter at the right side of the defense. Julio Dominguez will be another handy option for the manager.
The Tricolors have got a pretty good midfield. Edson Alvarez has been brilliant for Eredivisie side Ajax Amsterdam and should be the first choice DM in the side. The center midfield should be occupied by the La Liga duo Andrés Guardado and Hector Herrera. Team captain and Real Betis star Guardado is a very crucial player for the side while Atletico de Madrid man Herrera is also a key player. Both of them have loads of experience and should be very influential for the side’s success. Former Villarreal man Jonathan Dos Santos will also be an important player while Orbelín Pineda would be a seriously handy option.
The front line should feature: Hirving Lozano, Raul Jimenez and Jesus Corona. Napoli star Lozano and Wolverhampton’s target man Jimenez will be the main weapons and may prove to be the difference between Mexico and the opposition side. Jimenez has made a comeback from a serious injury and has been reestablishing himself at the Molineux. FC Porto’s Jesus Corona should also be a starter at the side. Another number nine Rogelio Funes Mori who scored a few goals during Jimenez’s absence should be a used substitute throughout the campaign and we expect him to come off the bench on regular occasions.
Predicted Starting Lineup:
Goalkeeper: Guillermo Ochoa.
Defense: Luis Rodríguez, Néstor Araújo, Héctor Moreno, Jesús Gallardo.
Midfield: Edson Alvarez, Andrés Guardado, Héctor Herrera.
Forward: Jesus Corona, Hirving Lozano, Raul Jimenez.
