The AFC Asian Cup is an international association football tournament by AFC. The AFC Asian Cup 2023 will be the 18th edition of the AFC Asian Cup. The Asian Cup was held once every four years. It is the second oldest continental football championship in the world after Copa América. Asia’s top 24 national teams compete for the most desirable prize in Asian football in the 18th edition of the tournament. The AFC Asian Cup China 2023 will be held across 31 days which will also be the longest in history with three more days than the 28-day showpiece in the United Arab Emirates in 2019. The Champion of the AFC Asian Cup will bag $5m. The runners-up of the competition will receive $3m. Semi-finalists of the competition will bag $1m each. and all participating teams will receive $200,000.
The prize money is just a host of enhancements introduced to strengthen the stature of Asia’s most prestigious competition, which also has a new trophy for the first time since the inaugural edition in 1956. The prize money for the 2023 AFC Asian Cup can be changed depending on the situation.
Prize money of 2019 :
The total prize money pool for the tournament was 14,800,000 USD. The champions received USD$5 million, the runners-up received USD$3 million, and the losing semi-finalists received USD$1 million. All 24 participating teams will also receive USD$200,000.
The 17th edition of the AFC Asian Cup was the first time that this tournament contested by 24 teams. Which was 16 in the previous tournament.
